Hands on Caning 101

Caning is one of my absolute favorite activities, and believe it or not it is one of the simplest forms of SM play. This hands on workshop will discuss the basics including various types of canes, safety, and anatomy. We’ll cover a number of non-traditional and traditional strokes, as well as incorporating rhythm and music into your caning. The best part of the class, though, is that we will be caning, right now! People have found relief from the pent up energies and experiences in a ritual grounding circle held Monday morning after the final breakfast. Those who have attended this circle have reported it helping significantly in the transition from the world of DO camp to their everyday life. The circle takes as long as it takes. In the past it has lasted anywhere from 20 minutes to an hour. Please bring something to sit on, or be willing to sit on the ground outside.

This class will consist of a lecture followed by a demo and an opportunity for some hand on. Lecture will cover the essential considerations that separate rope suspension from groundwork, with emphasis on safety.
